What's happening...

Hello everyone!
This is just a quick update on the "goings on" in our class. The kids are very excited for our field trip to the Fairview Bowling Lanes (North end) and to DQ tomorrow. It will be a very fun trip and a nice way to celebrate the end of Grade 3 together.
You may have been hearing about special brochures that are being created in our class. For our information reports, the kids are making brochures on an animal of their choice. They have used books, encyclopedias and websites to help with their research and are now working on their rough drafts. I'll post a few brochures when the kids finish-they have really enjoyed this project! Every morning at least 2 kids ask if we can work on the reports. I was speaking with one dad tonight and his son has been doing extra research at home! I love when they get excited about what they are learning!
As you know from the class's June newsletter, our provincial assessments are over. We are finishing up our multiplication and division unit. I'm in the process of creating a good review game (for our test) for the kids on the smartboard.  I'd like our class to test out our senteo remotes with the smartboard. For those of you who don't know, senteos are little remotes that input data from your child into the smartboard. With them a teacher can posts a question on the smartboard and students use their remotes to input answers that are wirelessly sent to the teacher's computer, where results are displayed in real time. Answers can be multiple choice, true/false, or numeric. The senteos remotes kind of put me in mind of a game show-think Who wants to be a Millionaire when they ask the audience for their responses. However, responses are kept anonymous except to the teacher.
Senteo: Making Math like a very fun game show!

What can I say? I'll do almost anything to keep them interested in Math this time of year!
