Math-Numbers to 500


In Math we are working on building, counting and comparing numbers up to 500. Last week kids were given a large collection of objects, told to estimate how big their collection was and then count their collections. We had a fantastic discussion about numbers bigger than 100 and how to write them. Many kiddos were adding a zero to their numbers when writing numbers larger than 100. For example some kiddos were writing 118 as 1018-we had a great discussion about this in class.

We discussed counting our large collection by 5's and 10's. Many partners grouped their collections into groups of ten as many kids' collections had more than 200 objects in it!
