Shape and Space

Well, we are finishing up some work on 3-D and 2-D shapes. Both grades had little quizzes and we just finished an art/math sculpting project to wrap it all up. In Gr. 1 students need to replicate composite 2-D and 3-D objects (SS3) and in Gr. 2 students need to construct 3-D objects (SS7) so creating shapes using clay seemed like the perfect math/art combined project for our Friday afternoon. I had each student choose 4 shapes that they would like to try to create. The Gr.1's had the option of doing 2-D shapes as well. But let's be honest,3-D shapes are way more fun to create (this according to my buddies Liam and Owen) so most of them chose to do mostly 3-D shapes. Check out the work below.
